Mid 20’s
It’s been a year since we’ve rolled out a campaign for the blog, so it was time to roll out something new.
Last year we had a strong response to the test campaign shoot that was done for the blog, and this year we decided to really give Beautonomy a sense of self, and brand it as such.
With that being said, the next set of visuals has been shot and the theme for this current year of 2012-2013, is really going to be focused around my own Mid 20’s. As I, Asia Monique have recently turned 25, it’s like the perfect stepping stone in my life, and like many others of being young, sexy, confident and an adult. You have a firm sense of self at this point and I feel the blog has established itself enough to show a different side to it by now, beyond the pearls and perfume, it has a bit of edge to it.
This is the first of many shoots, but I figured I would give you all an idea of where we at Beautonomy are coming from visually. Beyond what you read and receive from the blog, you as the reader wish to understand a concept, and so as we grow and learn, the thoughts, techniques, and lessons all go into the branding and content you find here.
Currently, the layout is sleek and chic enough to allow the visuals created around it to compliment, accent, and act as an extension to the overall ideal of the blog. This allows it to be edgy somedays, and chic somedays, thus giving you a sense of the brains behind it all, myself.
Thanks for rocking with us and continue to follow the campaign! Let’s make this a great year!

A Letter From the Desk: The Response
Last one for today, from the vision book.
Seldomly do I respond to such accusations.
For I’ve arrived,
and you’ve not.
For I was born for something greater
than the mask of the everyday
masquerade…
No need to dress up, I do not bother.
To sink to your lowly assumptions
For you’ve simply found yourself
10yrs prior
remaining the block nigga
the highschool desire
but I, need more than that.
Money is an addition.
For a thought, becomes the dream
the goal in which I plan to reach the money
trails
my
ambitions.
…So I’m not worried about that.
I’m worried about my future,
although I’m focused on today.
I make a step everyday
to stray beyond the means that lock me up.
Shackled at the feet.
Imprisoned.
I refuse to shout from a mental penatentiary
that is a certified killer
of any healthy thoughts
I fear…
that my son will have no one to look to.
For guidance.
Beyond God Himself.
And that the block nigga will slither
his way into his heart
and corrupt his innocent curiosity.
I know
he will be stronger
than Adam , and what Eve
eventually brought him to.
But for my baby
he needs
positivity…
options.
I’m 6 months pregnant with
a gift that will change nations.
That will speak internationally
campaign for self-righteousness
AND its dropping SOON.
So for my thoughts to give
birth
to the lost nations at hand
my plan is to birth
the “wake-up.”
For I was born for something greater
than the everyday masquerade,
No need to dress up. I do not even bother.

A Letter From the Desk: Untitled One…
Good Morning all! This is another quick little piece from my vision book. Enjoy!
We go together.
Something weird and unexplainable brought us to this point of…
curiosity was what it was.
Business as usual , things shared to the world
and in the blink of an eye ,
the daunting familiarity of your silhouette
has become the frame ,
to our picture perfect title.
The empty text messages. The silent glances.
small moments of excitement.
The misinterpretations.
“I’m fucking up,” plays through
both minds…
in time.
We go together…
is al that is left behind. From the daunting
familiarity of your silhouette
that became the frame,
to our picture perfect title.

Letter From the Desk: An Ode to…
Good Morning! So I decide to do something a little different for this week. Yes! I do understand with all of my energy, random little photos, constant pushing of artists, music and cosmetics, I don’t really show much more of myself beyond the fact that these are the things I support. So, I do write and I wish to share some of my work with you all this week if that’s ok.
Now I will share with you some of my most recent work and you can always let me know what you think. I will also share with you that as I write, I am a visual person. Though I may use short phrases, I try to use the right word to convey the image that I need you to see, and the emotion that I need you to feel (I hope that makes sense). SO, with that being said, ladies an gentlemen, An Ode…
You open up to me.
Everytime I reach for you, you know exactly
where it was , we left off…
In conversation.
You let me speak.
For any question I’ve ever had from the dawn
of your existence
or our friendship…
you’ve allowed for our love to co-exist…
Its not fair.
For you’ve a voice to speak with,
but instead you choose to use the words of mine
to define your existence.
So, I embrace you and your humility,
allowing me to mold you into a version of myself.
Acting as a mirror , allowing me to
truly see myself…
well…through you.
I’ve come to you broken, battered, angered
…naked.
No actions…no.
Judgement.
…
Its not fair.
From your makeup I’ve judged you,
saying to myself, “you were beautiful. Perfect for me…
what could I do to change you..”
like they all tried to do me.
And yet you still allow me to take advantage
of your willingness to tattoo my thoughts
images
to corrupt what you could be made better for.
To act on your openness and show you,
only you
who I really am…
but.
What is to happen…
when my thoughts and quips have filled every
single inch of your being.
What happens…
when every angle of your frame is marked
cut
ripped in my image…
?
Are there others like you who are willing
to live
for my very existence?
Be my reflection?
Be my “SELF?”
…I hope to not find out too soon…
as I am currently still currently exploring the dimensions of you.
…and myself.
Private DJ: Top 5
Anytime I listen to my music, I normally put my entire library on shuffle. From the train, to work, and back I have my fave mixtapes to the newly released on hand, and this week, these five songs either started the day, or were in heavy rotation in the shuffle mix. So…we ready?
Who Done It: BLiNK, Dave Coresh, Young General, Teeklef
Mixtape/Album: American Dreams African Principles
Comments: EVERYONE went in on this joint. ALL parties involved murdered someone’s soul. Idk. I’m only saying. This happens to be my fave. Everytime I hear this, All I can say is “YESSSSS for this.” And I’ve heard this quite a bit. BLiNK has mad concepts, great structure and although his delivery is smooth, his lyrics go hard, so don’t sleep on him. The project: killer. Glad I had the chance to participate with it!
Who Done It: T-Pain ft. Chris Brown
Mixtape/Album: Revolver
Comments: :). Love T-Pain because of his energy and well Chris Brown…is just Chris Brown. I’m a fan of his, what can I say. But this joint I heard over the summer and lost my mind. Its full of energy and its just an awesome song to get you moving and grooving. Also, I will say I was quite impressed with this album more over T-Pains last, as I still listen to the entire album, moreover his previous albums, where I would only get one or two tracks.
Who Done It: Rihanna
Mixtape/Album: Talk That Talk
Comments: This was the first track I heard off of the album and I loved it. I think my iPhone picked up on that. I was also quite excited about the entire album, as I normally don’t gravitate towards her stuff. But, ever since Loud…she may have a new fan.
Who Done It: The Boy Illinois ft. Asia Monique
Mixtape/Album: Inhale Pt. 4
Comments: Yes I think my phone is biased, BUT I LOVE THIS SONG! This happens to be the 1st single off of Illi’s mixtape and yes…that would be yours truly featured on it. He’s honestly a dope lyricist. Smooth, energetic, intelligent and just well rounded as an artist. I love his delivery.
Who Done It: J. Cole
Mixtape/Album: Friday Night Lights
Comments: I will say…I liked The Warm Up ( ONE OF MY FAVE mixtapes) better, but I’m not Mad at Friday Night Lights as a whole. This happens to be a joint I had to hear a few times before I was like “ok…I like it, I like it.” What I will say about J. Cole, he has a sense of consistency, but I felt he went harder on The Warm Up. He’s got madflow though, I’ll give him that as well.
So that is it for this week as far as Asia Monique’s iPhone is concerned. I think it would pat itself on the back if it could.
Until Next time,
-Peace.Love.LipsticK
