#WIMH: #PhilAdeFriday2
HAPPY NEW YEAR IS right… That’s right folks. New Year, New Music to talk about. :D Who are we talking about today? Phil Ade. Yessir. I’ve heard a little something about him, all positive, and I wanted to check him out for myself. So when I stumbled across his mixtape on my favorite safe haven, I figured I would give the DMV lyricist a try.
Mixtape: #PhilAdéFridayII
Who Done It: Phil Adé
Release Date: 12/30/2011
What I like about him:
- A complex mind that wants to share the world as he sees it, with the rest of the universe: He’s a visionary and gives you pictures of what he’s seeing, audibly.
- Straight forward, fluid and consistent lyricism, so the pictures he paints with the words he’s spitting, you can grasp.
- Focused. He’s Hungry.
- He walks you through an experience of life. For instance, in “Let It Shine,” He touches briefly on his upbringing in the church and how it led him to seek another level in life outside of what we (in the African Americanculture) know in that particular setting. May seem small, but to most that’s what we know as a culture to be the source of everything from family upbringing to business.
- Crab Cake
- Let It Shine
- Stadium Girl
- No Place Like Home (Ft. Kevin Ross)
Bottom Line:
I honestly think he’s worth a stream. This mixtape is dope. That’s it. I’m a fan of the conversational delivery and the fluidity of it, as well within the lyrics you can pull things to relate to. Maybe within the struggle or maybe within a simple emotion, either way give it a listen here then download it!
