I actually had the pleasure of meeting this individual back in November at the REFUGE Sunday open mic. Took to the stage, and captivated the crowd with a prolific state of mind. Having had the chance to side bar with him, I found him to be cool, down to earth, and aware of the craft he took a chance on, and what he has currently established for himself as a poet/writer/actor…

 So…who is Real T@lk? 

Chicago native, a poet with no  gimmicks but has the “passion for formulating bars that give birth to stanzas, which he transcribes into verses.” Like that quote? There’s more. Trying his hand at poetry, he quickly became one the most well known spoken word artists in the Midwest, attending SIU in Carbondale and performing shows. Having toured the Midwest  college circuit, Real T@lk had the opportunity to perform at universities such as Bradley, Chicago State, and U of I.

After graduation, Real T@lk and Authentik Made decided to take things a step further and push the brand by working on a project that solidified a name. In 2009, the Mo’ Better Mixtape dropped, get rave reviews on blogs and was fresh enough to get the attention of The Source Magazine, as they described  him as the “Unsigned Hype” in the Dec. ‘09 print.

What’s the style like?

Calling it a culmination of “hip hop, pop,top 40, R&B, urban contemporary, easy listening, and funk love.” Sounds like a hip-hop gumbo right?

What is he up to?

Real T@lk has been touring with a stage play that he not only produced, but acts in titled “The Yard.” As well he is getting ready for the release of the 2nd prj, “The Sitcom LP.”
